When You Go To A Concert By Yourself

By: Alexia Guzman

There’s nothing like a concert experience, especially if you go solo.

July 18, 2016

A concert is an escape from reality for a good 2 hours. Just because you have no one to go with or no one wants to go with you doesn't mean you can't go at all.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You will feel out of place, it's normal. You might find yourself looking for someone that you may know. Word to the wise: Don’t. If you do see someone you know, cool. If not, don't sweat it. You more than likely will make new friends with the people sitting in your row. Naturally they’ll ask you whom you’re with and when you say yourself, you’ll gain respect from a complete stranger. New friends are easy to come by when you have something in common aka love for the artist you paid to see.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

Security will look at you funny when they notice it's just you getting your ticket scanned. Just smile and keep it moving, you've got a show to see!

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You will get stared at. If you do, whoever is staring at you, is just admiring the fact that you came alone.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You can inch your way up the huge merchandise line without getting called out. You might get some looks here and there, but once they realize that it's just you and no one else, the air is clear. After all, they are there for the same reason you are.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

Remember: No one cares. No one cares that you're there by yourself. The people at the venue came to see the show just like you did. Embrace it.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You will indulge all you've got into the show.  Lose yourself in the beat. Sing at the top of your lungs. Dance. Clap. Cry. ---- I'm telling you, NO ONE CARES!

When you go to a concert by yourself...

Remind yourself that you are there for the music, not to impress complete strangers.  After all, your life is meant to express not to impress.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You won't have any distractions. You won't have to worry if your friend is having a good time or not. It's just you and the music.

When you go to a concert by yourself…

You will become more aware. You will pay attention to the vocals, lyrics, music, and dancers. You’ll begin to appreciate the artist more than you already do.

When you go to a concert by yourself…

You will get to experience a moment that you would not have been able to if you were with other people.

When you go to a concert by yourself...

You leave a different person.

I'm all about making things happen for myself. I didn’t think going to a concert alone would be such a rewarding experience. I’m proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone. I’m so use to going with a friend or a group of friends. Going alone has boosted my confidence to a whole other level. If you haven't gone to a concert by yourself, I encourage you to do it.

It changed my life.

By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVA WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats are committed to passing legislation this year to curb prescription drug prices, but they’re still disagreeing on how to cut costs for patients and taxpayers while preserving profits that lure investors to back potentially promising treatments.
