The Hispanic Women’s League (HWL) announces the 40th Annual College Scholarship Program

 The Hispanic Women’s League (HWL) announces the 40th Annual College Scholarship Program and The 2019 Community Leadership Awards Nomination awarded at the 40th Anniversary Celebration Gala on Saturday, 10/26/2019 at Samuel’s Grande Manor. 

BUFFALO, NY – April 2, 2019. The members and directors of La Liga de Mujeres, Inc. are pleased to announce the 40th Annual Scholarship Opportunities to assist deserving female students of Hispanic origin (direct descendant of Hispanic heritage from at least one grandparent) and the opportunity to submit nominations for HWL Community Leadership Awards. Please note that previous HWL scholarship award recipients are not eligible. The Scholarship applicants must: 

 Be enrolled and attending College in Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Allegany or Chautauqua counties 

 Have 24-degree credit and GPA of 2.75 or higher. (pursuit of master degrees are considered) 

 Show commitment to the Hispanic Community 

 Once awarded, serve in one of the HWL’s committees and in at least one HWL event. 

 Submit application online by going to http://www.hispanicwomensleague.org and submit by the deadline of 8/15/19 

 Appear in person at the 40th anniversary gala on 10/26/19 

Additionally, HWL invites the community to submit a nomination for HWL Community Leadership Awards. The awards recognize outstanding service and achievement of community leaders and/or organizations. Write a 500-word description how individual or organization has made a substantive difference and send your nomination to contact@hispanicwomensleague.org Deadline to submit a nomination is June 30, 2019. Nominee should meet at least of the following criteria: 

Has a direct and noteworthy role in the professional growth of the Hispanic community, has accomplished significant change for Hispanics in our community, local government, civil society or the education system. Serves as an inspirational mentor and/role model to a Latino (a). Is a life-long leader who exemplifies values of fearless leadership, and has shown a record of accomplishment for supporting the growth of HWL. 

La Liga De Mujeres Hispanas Inc. is a non-profit organization that works towards improving the quality of life, assist in the personal and professional development, and advocate for the concerns of all women. One of the primary commitments of the Hispanic Women's League is to provide scholarships to women of Hispanic descent for the attainment of higher education.
