Capt. Eric J. Anduze is a native of Manati, Puerto Rico. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1993.
Upon earning his commission, Anduze reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for flight training and earned his “Wings of Gold” from Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi, in April 1996. He was selected to fly F-14 Tomcats and reported to the “Grim Reapers” of Fighter Squadron (VF) 101.
Following completion of F-14A training at VF-101, Anduze joined the “Black Aces” of VF-41 and completed two Mediterranean deployments aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), where he conducted combat missions over Kosovo in support of Operation Allied Force/Noble Anvil. In January 2001, Anduze returned to VF-101, as an F-14 instructor and became a strike fighter tactics instructor after graduating from “Top Gun”.
In October 2002, Anduze joined the “Black Knights” of VF-154 and completed a deployment aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), where he conducted combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In August 2003, Anduze transferred to the “World Famous Pukin’ Dogs” of VF-143 where he completed two Mediterranean deployments aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) in support of OIF and Operation Enduring Freedom.
In December 2006, Anduze reported to U.S. Joint Forces Command, where he served as concept development project lead. Anduze rejoined the Pukin’ Dogs in August 2010, as executive officer and went on to command the Pukin’ Dogs from December 2011 to February 2013, deploying aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) to again support of OEF.
Following his command tour, Anduze reported to Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic as director of aviation training and readiness before being selected to the aviation nuclear power pipeline. In June 2015, he joined the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) where he served as the executive officer until September 2017.
From November of 2018 to December 2019, Anduze commanded U.S. 7th Fleet’s flagship, the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19).
Capt. Anduze has accumulated more than 3,200 flight hours and 850 arrested landings. He is the recipient of various personal and campaign awards, including the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, six Strike/Flight Air Medals, an Individual Air Medal (with Combat V), three Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals (one with combat V), three Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various other individual and unit citations.

Anduze sustituyó al capitán Carlos Sardiello en un cambio de mando ocurrido el 31 de julio en San Diego.
Sardiello ejercía por segunda vez la comandancia del portaviones, después del despido de Cozier, quien cuestionó la respuesta al brote de coronavirus que afectó a cerca del 25% de los 5,000 tripulantes del buque.
Anduze tiene un bachillerato en ingeniería espacial de la Academia de la Marina de Guerra estadounidense.
