As the City of Dunkirk get ready to present its Summer Events its teamed up with Shults Resale Center to raise monies for local veteran’s group in the Dunkirk area with a Car giveaway.
On May 18, 2016 Mayor Rosas and Mike Dougherty presented the car to the public and press and announced that tickets would be sold for $20 a each and the the proceeds would benefits the veteran of Dunkirk.
The city of Dunkirk special event coordinator Hector Rosas organized the event and said “I approached Mike Dougherty at Shults Resale Center, who has sponsored events for us. Without his efforts, we wouldn’t be able to offer some of these events. I approached him about a car sponsorship and through that collaboration we are giving away a car on Sept. 8,”
Hector Rosas said ” 900 tickets will be sold at $20 apiece beginning at the first Music on the Pier show on June 16 and the winning ticket will be drawn at the final Music on the Pier show on Sept. 8”. To purchase tickets one must be 18 years or older.
Mike Dougherty is general manager of the Dunkirk and Olean Shults Resale Centers, said “the company is happy to be a sponsor of city events and the car giveaway”.
“We like giving back to the local community. We are a locally based company and we like to keep it all about the local community,” he said.
Rosas and Dougherty have plans for the car, which has large, green “win me” decals, to be showcased at events and around town throughout the summer.
“Wherever we go, the car will be there,” Rosas said, listing Music on the Pier, Wreck and Roll, the county fair and AGC wine festival as events to see the vehicle.
Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas said “the car giveaway will bring an added layer of excitement to the city’s already fun-filled summer events schedule”.
“We are all excited and the car adds another element of excitement. Everyone is going to enjoy the events this summer. I would like to thank Shults for their sponsorship and I commend Hector and the Festivals and Development departments. They have made sure it is going to be a great summer in the city,” he said.
