latest snow totals from lake effect snow storm

By Saturday morning, snow totals in the hardest hit areas had reached over 6 feet

The Buffalo Niagara International Airport has recorded a storm total of 36.7″ from Thursday through Sunday. Williamsville totals 21.1″, and Lancaster reported 42″ total snow since Friday.

Lake effect snows swept back across Western New York Saturday night and early Sunday morning before it finally tapers off for the region.  As of 6am Sunday, the snow band is currently lingering in the Chautauqua and Cattaraugus region.

While the heaviest snow has moved out, we can still expected to see some blowing snow.

Snowfall totals have been trickling in from various storm spotters and the National Weather Service. The top total so belongs to Orchard Park with 77 inches of snow on the ground as of Saturday morning. Surrounding towns like Blasdell and Elma also reported four to five feet of snow had fallen there.

The National Weather Service also reports that a record daily snowfall of 16.1 inches of snow fell at the Buffalo airport Saturday. That breaks the previous record of of 7.6 inches set in 2014.

These are the latest snow totals from the storm as of Saturday.  Final numbers have not been released yet.

Niagara/Orleans:

  • Lakeside: 1.3 inches

Buffalo-Metro area:

  • Snyder: 29 inches
  • Darien Center: 28.3 inches
  • Williamsville: 26.5 inches
  • Cheektowaga: 21 inches
  • Akron: 18.5 inches
  • Batavia: 17.8 inches
  • Corfu: 10.5 inches
  • Stafford: 11.5 inches
  • LeRoy: 9.6 inches
  • Kenmore: 7.6 inches
  • Amherst: 6.4 inches
  • Tonawanda: 3.3 inches

Southtowns:

  • Orchard Park: 77 inches
  • Blasdell: 65.0 inches
  • Hamburg: 61.0 inches
  • Elma: 58.2 inches
  • East Aurora: 47.5 inches
  • Eden: 50.0 inches
  • Marilla: 48 inches
  • Angola: 46 inches

Southern Tier:

  • Franklinville: 6.9 inches
  • Olean: 3.5 inches

While the snow continues to taper off, we are expecting about another 4 to 8 inches to fall, which will only continue to beef up these totals.
