Pockets of heavy snow will make travel difficult in the Southern Tier through Monday mornin
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nothing like closing out a holiday weekend with a Winter Weather Advisory issued for parts of Western New York.
This clipper is bringing in a potent band of snow into the Southern Tier, enough to trigger a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties until Monday morning at 7 a.m. This includes communities like Mayville, Bemus Point, Lakewood, Sinclairville, Gerry, Jamestown, Cassadaga, South Dayton, Cherry Creek, Arkwright, Stockton, Westfield, Ellicottville, East Otto, and Perrysburg.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the region, which will last until 7 a.m. Monday.
For Southern Erie and Allegany Counties, 3 to 6 inches of snow are possible with the higher totals focused for areas in Ski Country, and for areas such as Allegany and the Boston Hills.
In McKean and Warren Counties, 2 to 4 inches of snow are possible through areas like Warren and Bradford.
For all the counties listed, travel could be difficult during the evening hours on Sunday, when the snow is expected to be at its heaviest and most persistent with poor visibility. The 90, Route 60, Route 62, and Route 39 will be challenging roads into the evening and overnight with the snow reducing visibility.
