Dunkirk Holiday Parade Slated For December 1st, 2023

The Dunkirk Holiday Parade will be held on Friday evening, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. on Central Avenue.

The parade is presented by event sponsor Special Metals of Dunkirk along with the support from the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, Refresco and The Botox Barn & Wellness.

The grand marshal of the parade will be Dave Rowley who recently retired from WDOE after 31 years of dedicated service.

This year’s theme is “Holiday Movie Magic,” which encourages participating entries to decorate their vehicles, floats, and people with a favorite holiday movie or cartoon theme. Floats are encouraged to play their favorite Christmas music.

Parade line up will begin at 5:00 pm on Third Street, between Robin Street and Central Avenue.

The event will feature pre-parade entertainment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 pm, traveling south toward City Hall and end at Brooks Memorial Hospital on Sixth Street.

Trophies will be awarded to the favorite parade entries.

Interested groups and companies that would like to participate are asked to complete a parade application as soon as possible available at www.cityofdunkirk.com under the Festivals tab or pick up form at the Youth and Recreation Office in the Stearns Building. The no-cost registration is due November 27.

Spectators are reminded to dress warm to enjoy the holiday event. Central Station Restaurant will be open until 7:30 p.m.

Corporate parade sponsors are available at the following levels: $500 – “Santa Is Comin’ to Town”, $250 – “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and $100 – “Frosty the Snowman.” Interested parties can also sponsor a trophy for $25.00.
