Scene One Entertainment announces the opening of Market Arcade 8 in Downtown Buffalo, featuring $5 screenings supporting local charities and new film premieres.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new movie theater will be opening in Downtown Buffalo this spring. Scene One Entertainment announced it will cut the ribbon on Market Arcade 8 on April 22.
The eight-screen theater will feature deluxe heated reclining seats and a full bar, pending license approval from the New York State Liquor Authority.
First day screenings will be $5 classic showings of “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Natural,” and “Bruce Almighty.” Ticket sales on that day will benefit Hearts for the Homeless and the Elmwood Village Association
Starting April 23, the theater will switch over to its current slate:
“Michael.” The cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world. Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins.
“I Swear.” Based on the life story of Tourette’s Syndrome campaigner John Davidson, MBE. Set within 1980s Britain, the story follows him throughout his troubled teens and early adulthood, and explores this little known and entirely misunderstood condition, along with his attempts to live a ‘normal’ life against the odds.
“Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros., and follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023.
“Over Your Dead Body.” A dysfunctional married couple retreats to a secluded cabin to repair their relationship, but each secretly plots to murder the other.
“Fuze.” Set in contemporary London, Fuze unfolds after an unexploded World War II bomb is unearthed at a busy construction site, forcing a massive citywide evacuation. Amid the escalating tension and chaos, a daring criminal operation is set in motion—one that uses the evacuation as cover for a meticulously planned heist. As authorities race against time to contain the crisis, alliances blur and moral boundaries are crossed, the film deftly propels audiences through a series of calculated twists delivering a wildly entertaining ride.
“Lorne.” From Morgan Neville, Academy Award-winning filmmaker of 20 Feet from Stardom and Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, comes Lorne, an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the man who built the inimitable empire of comedy, shaping television and culture for generations. The documentary features exclusive footage, archival treasures, and candid interviews with the show’s most iconic cast members and writers including Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, John Mulaney, Andy Samberg, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock and many more.
Scene One also says “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, will premiere on Friday, May 1.
in February that Scene One Entertainment was taking over the former AMC space in Buffalo’s Theater District, across from Shea’s. That theater closed at the end of December after AMC terminated its lease.
