This is an exciting weekend for our community as we prepare for the Puerto Rican and Hispanic day parade on Niagara Street or Avenida San Juan, as it has been named. Sometimes, as with all construction projects, unanticipated delays occur. However, the city has been very cognizant of our parade and has made every accommodation for us. The PRHDP board has always worked with the city of Buffalo and Mayor Byron Brown to make our parade one of the best in the state and nation.
The construction taking place this year is a step toward improving our neighborhood and ensuring that all future parades are something that our community and the city of Buffalo can continue to be proud of.
I’d like to thank Mayor Brown, his administration and staff for their hard work and efforts. Once completed, the Niagara Streetscape project, LaSalle Park renovations and the State’s Peace Bridge/Porter Avenue improvement project will result in a combined investment of over $40million into our community which is rich in Hispanic heritage, blessed with thriving entrepreneurs and for many, the gateway to our great city.
I look forward to everyone coming out and enjoying the wonderful weather, a great parade and a fun filled family weekend at La Salle Park.
