The Augustine “Pucho” Olivencia Community Center along with the WNY Holiday Partnership held their Annual Three Kings Day Celebration. Wilmer Olivencia, Jr. was chairman of the event. The celebration was held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m., at 261 Swan Street, Buffalo, NY 14204.
Also known as the Feast of the Epiphany, Three Kings Day (Dia de los Reyes) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child. This religious holiday is widely celebrated in the Hispanic community.
The day was filled with joy and happiness, as over 200 local children received toys from the Three Kings. Additionally, there will be bicycles, Tops gift cards and small appliances among items distributed through a free raffle at the event
The celebration featured traditional Latino holiday music, face painting, clowns and balloons. In addition, there was a dramatic appearance by the Three Kings.
The annual event chairman Wilmer Olivencia said “We look forward to have this event every year, bringing smiles to the children and the families in our community gives me great joy”
